The last time the two rivals played each other in the UAE was 2006 at Abu Dhabi’s Shaikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
Dubai International Stadium is all set to stage 8 matches which include final while Abu Dhabi’s Shaikh Zayed Cricket Stadium will host 5 matches.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the schedule of the much-awaited tournament. The two most popular Asian cricket giants will be playing against each other on September 19 at the Dubai International Stadium.
Speaking to Gulf News, Khalid Al Zarouni, the President of the Dubai Sports City (DSC) that owns the Dubai stadium, said:
“Our venue is geared up at all levels to offer a great match experience to all the cricket fans here.”
Dubai International Stadium is expected to be packed to capacity which has an expandable capacity of 30000 spectators.
The stadium officials are planning for a smooth staging of the tournament and especially the final to be held on September 28, 2018.
UAE will be staging this 14th Asia Cup tournament for the third time.
Asia Cup will start this September 15th, 2018 with Bangladesh playing against Sri Lanka at the Dubai Stadium.
This time the Cup falls back to its traditional 50-over ODI as opposed to Twenty20 format in 2016
